JUL 8 MONDAY OF THE FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME GOSPEL COMMENTARY Mt 9, 18-26 “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples. A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”... “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they ridiculed him. When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose." THE MIRACLES OF OUR LORD ARE MEANT TO PROVE HIS DIVINITY. THEY ARE NOT SIMPLY MEANT TO SHOW HIS COMPASSION, WHICH IS ALREADY A LOT, AND TO RELIEVE US OF OUR SUFFERING, WHICH IS ALSO QUITE A LOT. We need to strengthen our faith in the divinity of Christ, especially nowadays when the world is drifting toward secularism, neo-paganism and irreligion. O LORD, WE CONFESS YOUR TRUE AND PERFECT DIVINITY AND HUMANITY IN THE ONE DIVINE PERSON. HELP US TO STRENGTHEN OUR FAITH AND MAKE US HAVE A STRONG SUPERNATURAL OUTLOOK IN LIFE. AMEN! usccb.org/bible/readings/070813.cfm
