James 4:13-17 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will - TopicsExpress

James 4:13-17 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into this or that town and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes. You ought to say instead, “If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that.” But as it is, you boast about your arrogant plans. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows what is good to do and does not do it is guilty of sin. It can be easy to forget that God wants to be involved in our every day lives. Personally, I forget because I lose perspective. I get carried away and my focus shifts to money or self-worth. All of a sudden I’m making decisions and trying to accomplish so that I can do what I want to do…and live how I want to live. Being led by the Holy Spirit means that we are able to set aside our own will to follow Jesus. If I decide today that I want what God wants for my life, then I am one step closer to being able to respond to and embrace my future, whatever that may be, in a way that is honoring to God. He knows what is coming next whereas we do not. My prayer today is that we would walk in step with the Holy Spirit, recognizing the sovereignty of God every day. Seek FIRST His Kingdom...
