Jammu bandh today Educational institutions to remain closed Jammu, Sep 26: Several political and business organisations have called for Jammu Bandh on Friday in protest against the twin militant attacks on a police station and an army camp in Samba district on Thursday. The organisations, including the state unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Bar Association Jammu, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Dogra Front, Shiv Sena and transporters have urged the traders to keep their business establishments shut on Friday. They also appealed to other organizations to support the bandh call so that a strong message is conveyed against the gruesome incident. Meanwhile, Jammu University has postponed all examinations scheduled to be held on September 27, 2013 including all practical examinations. The fresh date(s) shall be notified separately, a JU spokesman said. The BJP today held a meeting at party headquarters under state president, Jugal Kishore Sharma and attended by Leader of Legislative Party, Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member, Dr. Nirmal Singh and state general secretary (Org.), Ashok Kaul, during which the decision for Jammu bandh call was taken. Jugal Kishore Sharma, while condemning the attack said that it is total failure on part of the UPA Government which has adopted “soft approach towards Pakistan during the last 9 years.” The BJP leaders said that the government functionaries have been “encouraging such elements who have been leveling flimsy charges against VDCs and demanding to disband them.” Ashok Khajuria, on the occasion said that the “nationalist people should get united to make it loud and clear that the continuation of peace talks with Pakistan has proved to be a futile exercise and it should be made clear to Pakistan that enough is enough.” The J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu suspended work at all the courts, including High Court, today as a mark of protest. The Association has also called for Jammu Bandh tomorrow. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by its president, M.K Bhardwaj today. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO REMAIN CLOSED TODAY The district administration Jammu has said that educational institutions in the district would remain closed on Friday in view of the prevailing law and order situation. As per an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, all government/ private educational institutions including colleges shall remain closed on 27-9-2013 in Jammu district in view of the prevailing law and order situation
