January 20, 2009, I will close GITMO within the first year of my term. The second year I will close GITMO. The third year I will close GITMO. The fourth year I will close GITMO. The fifth year I will close GITMO. The sixth year I will close GITMO. The seventh year I will close GITMO. On January 21, 2009, on WAAX 570 I stated, this president will NEVER close GITMO now and he will NEVER close it if he is in office for eight years. So far I am correct. This president had no fundamental understanding of how the military functioned in 2009 and he has no fundamental understanding how the military works today. He has tried executive order, threats, misleading stories about GITMO and outright lying in trying to close this base. His most recent lie is that it cost $3,000,000.00 for each inmate to be at GITMO for one year. Based on this statement there are 122 inmates at GITMO. So it cost us $366,000,000.00 per year to have GITMO opened. He cannot show documentation anywhere that it cost this much. He just pulled a figure out of thin air and ran with it. Nothing but a bald face lie. He does not understand the simple fact he can do nothing to close GITMO. NOTHING has worked and nothing will work. GITMO will be there when he leaves office in 2017. He will face this the rest of his life that he even as president he failed to carry through with his closing of GITMO. Bless his heart he will have to live with the truth that he is not as great as what he thinks he is.
