This sentimental song about a couple who marries on the eve of the outbreak of a war - actually fits rather perfect for the story of my mother and father. When every sensible person understood, that war was imminent, Mother shrug off all conventions she got in her strict upbringing, and started to travel north from her home in Malmö. She was close to her goal, Mariestad where Father had found a job - when she saw bundles of newspaper unloaded from a train. The front pages of every one was almost black with the biggest capitals from the printing shop: WAR! It was the morning of September 1, 1939. They did marry some years later on, but they didnt manufacture me until the Germans were on the retreat on all fronts. Now there was hope for a future in freedom, in a free country. And finally - they stayed married til death did them part.
