January 9, 2001 Lynne Nixon Denicker died. She was the lead singer of the Aquatones. Their hit You reached #21 on the pop chart and #11 on the R&B chart. Believe it or not, this was the first male group with a female lead singer to chart both pop and R&B. Quite a distinction, but they never charted again despite producing a string of really high quality singles. Lynne was actually a trained opera singer.
