Japan, its been an experience! The longer we spent here the more we found to like & appreciate so for that reason I wish we had more than two weeks! Above all, I think being here over cherry blossom season has been our biggest happiness, what an unexpected treat with everyone from starbucks to street stalls bringing out pink coloured food & drink in celebration of the pretty blooms. Flowers aside, when we finally got to grips with our limited eating options (and using chopsticks) life got easier, we found some amazing vegetarian restaurants, sipped sake at a 400yr old brewery (which daz ended up downing as a birthday dare...not a pretty sight!)... and enjoyed copious amounts of Asahi beer & Green Tea ( Laura, kyoto is known for green tea and we know how youre a fan so of course we picked you up a tin from there......and a couple of pretty japanease tea cups to drink it from too...obvs!) plus green tea flavoured stuff, kitkats for one, yum! Daz & I together were only accidently served meat about 5 times, which is better than we thought the number would be in Japan! Mount Fuji was a phenominal sight (even after just seeing everest!) due to its lone standing mighty peak and Nagashima theme park with its thrill seeking rollercoasters turned us into 12 year olds enjoying thorpe park for the first time (white cyclone & corkscrew....WOW!). We found ourselves walking around for the most part of every day taking in the sights & life of the japanease; officially the most polite, well mannered and well presented nation...with the cleanest & most tech-advanced toilets weve ever seen! Learning the details surrounding hiroshima in WW2 will stay with us forever, as will making friends with the deer and sharing shelter from the rain with them under the cherry blossoms in Miyajima. We take some great memories away from here, not least the view from our hotel room window of the tokyo skyline on our last night in japan (see photo attached :) )! Next stop....2 weeks driving a Chrysler Sebring convertible through LA, San Fran and what im very excited about, Vegas....mostly for the tables but also, our wedding present to ourselves, best seats in the house for Cirque du Soleil (proof that saving tins are worthwhile - we collected 50ps totalling £186 in the ten months leading up to us going travelling)!
