Jazz Takes Center Stage on the Season Four Opener for CinemaKC Friday Premiere at 10:30 p.m. on October 3 on KCPT Music is the Centerpiece of the Show’s Kick-Off Kansas City, Mo. (September 30) – The American Jazz Museum, located in the Kansas City, Mo. Jazz District, will be featured during the kick-off of CinemaKC on Friday, October 3, at 10:30 p.m. on KCPT. Episode One, with music at its center, will play again on Sunday, October 5, at 5:00 p.m. and Friday, October 10, at 12:30 a.m., always on KCPT. The John Baker Collection at the American Jazz Museum, which boasts over one million linear feet of film, contributes the old “soundie” or original music video, Cobb’s Idea, to the production. Cobb’s Idea features Lionel Hampton and Betty Carter. The CEO of the American Jazz Museum, Greg Carroll, discusses its contribution to the history of jazz, along with the other contributions of the museum and collection. Also featured on the premiere episode of CinemaKC are Kevin McKinn, director of Corporate FM and Brodie Rush, with his music videos Terra Nova and A Star Could Be Your Home. Corporate FM is a documentary that traces the rise of corporation owned radio and the demise of the local control. Brodie Rush is the creator of music videos using animation and edgy graphics. Episode One of CinemaKC airs Friday at 10:30 p.m. beginning on October 3 with repeat broadcasts on Sunday, October 5 at 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 10 at 12:30 a.m. ; all on Kansas City PBS affiliate, KCPT.
