Jeff and I watched the movie Lincoln last week. Then we visited Gettysburg today. After reading the Gettysburg address that Lincoln spoke to address the massive casualties that resulted from this battle and the divided state of our country at the time, I walked into the hallway and saw several critiques of his speech. It occurred to me that the people who hated him must have had no idea of the sincerity with which he struggled to resolve these deep and complicated issues. I have to remind myself that, even though I may disagree with the opinions of others, I am not the one who necessarily holds the truth. When its all said and done, the right will prevail, but only history and time have the final word.
