~Jennifer here~ Lainee was rescued from the doggers just over 4 weeks ago as 3 year old TB. She was in thin condition with a large head injury which had just happened and an old injury with broken ribs from an unknown accident. I dont think her previous owners would have imagined that when they put her in the sales that she would end up at the doggers but there was not enough private buyers so the doggers got her. She was already Hendra Vaccinated and microchipped by her previous owners and she absolutely loves humans so I know in my heart she was never neglected. A series of events did not go in her favour and once she sustained a large head injury at the doggers their chances of rehoming her were nil as she needed immediate vet attention and pain relief. I was on my way out for dinner that Saturday night when the doggers called me and told me she would have to go straight to slaughter as she could not be left in pain. I had just had a text the previous morning from a wonderful lady named Elaine Neill who said Jen I just put 2 thousand dollars in your account....save a horse. I immediately sprung into action and booked transport for the next morning and arranged a vet to come on the Sunday morning and paid Lainees fee to release her. She has been a perfect patient and we have all fallen in love with her. She is gaining weight beautifully and her large head injury which was down to the bone is closing up now with no infection after a long course of antibiotics and lots of cleaning the wound and filling it with antibiotic cream. Thanks to Elaine for making Lainee (an anagram of Elaine) able to be paid for. Thanks to Danni Kaos for calling me that Saturday night to offer us such a beautiful mare. :-)
