Jesse insisted that I share this post to the gym page. Some of you know my elbow story so to you this will make more sense. I have agreed to share it for 2 reasons: 1. I want to give Jayde Quilty a huge thank you for giving me great cues and more importantly the emotional support I needed to wrap my head around the fact that my elbow was going to be able to do this if I executed it with good form. 2. I want to remind you to never give up on something that you want. Over the last 6.5 years I have wanted to do a muscle up very badly and there were reasons that I physically wasnt able to while I watched people around me learn and execute them beautifully which is very tough as a coach. Then as my physical limitations diminished I still had to let my mind trust my body. In the end patience and baby steps got me there and today when I stood under the rings I truly believed for the first time that I was going to do one. *** Note: this is actually the 2nd one. The first one wasnt on video and had way more of Jayde and I screaming. This was my post: 6.5 years ago I tore something in my right elbow that caused nerve pain and instability on any full flexion movement. After painful and failed attempts at progressions I accepted that muscle ups might never be in my skill set. A year and a half ago I started #crossfitpowerlifting focused training and have worked incredibly hard to re-stabilize my elbow. A month ago I knew I was ready to start practicing some muscle up progressions. @jaydequilty gave me some great cues and much needed emotional support. I proceeded in baby steps with caution and low expectations. This morning I came into the gym tired just to play around. Jayde gave me a look and we just knew I was ready... And then this happened :) #patience #earned #persistence #crossfit
