Jesus Changes Hearts 20. Know What You Want Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.” We find examples in the Bible of people who knew what they wanted in life but that desire did not come from within themselves. Their hearts had been changed. They had a new code, source and value of life in them. Physical life on earth was no longer their main interest. A new life came about by being born-again. God created a new life in them. The result was that David had only ‘one desire’ and that was to dwell in the presence of God in the house of the Lord. In Philippians 3:13-14 Paul only desired ‘one thing’, But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” It was not Paul who had made the change in his heart. His heart was changed for him. God implanted a new desire and a new life in him. He would have happily kept on persecuting believers if God had not stepped in. And then there was Mary who also chose that ‘one thing’ in life. Luke 10:39,42 . She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. ... but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” My friend in the Lord, make sure that the path that you choose today is the path that can never be taken away from you.
