Jesus spoke of Himself as being “the Good Shepherd” (see John - TopicsExpress

Jesus spoke of Himself as being “the Good Shepherd” (see John 10). Hundreds of years earlier, David had written that the Lord was his shepherd, and now that Shepherd had become flesh. Here is a continuance of the most famous of psalms, Psalm 23. This was the “Great Shepherd” Himself (Hebrews 13:20), the One who takes away the “want” of the covetous human heart. He was the path of righteousness, who brought light to the valley of the shadow of death. Here was the Bread of Life, placed by God on a table in the presence of our enemies. Heaven’s cup “ran over,” and brought the Father’s goodness and mercy to us, so that we might dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
