Jesus went fishing. On the dock in the stream on a boat. He caught and he kept. He caught and he released so the young fish could mature. He brought home his bounty. He gave it freely without asking for anything in return. Today we fish. We catch. We keep. We do not let young mature, we take anything our hook can land. We take home our bounty. We do not give it freely nor do we, ask, for anything in return. We demand something in exchange for our fish. Without it we do not give. Jesus fished he caught he gave, freely without asking. He was a symbol of true humanity. Teaching the world not how to fish but how to give. A lesson missed most often by the idea that Jesus taught us how to fish for ourselves. No, Jesus was selfless. He fished and he gave freely. Hoping we would not learn to fish but learn that we all have the ability to give. By that giving enabling all lives fulfilled by compassionate human understanding and love. Credit goes to my mother for clarifying his intent in my soul.
