Federal government made a pronouncement recently that Petrol price has been slashed by N10.00 bringing the price from N97.00 to N87.00. Despite the fact that the price reduction is far below or an outcry from the expected value when compared to the correspondent rate of fall in the price of crude oil.The truth may not be far from the fact that some peoples/beneficiaries are feeding fat in the old price regime. Nigerians, especially the vendors or Petrol merchants are not helping the matter; they cheat in many ways: 1) They will calibrate the meter to dispense lesser volume than 1litre and collect money for a litre. 2) They will calibrate the meter to N97.00 now to N87.00 . 3) Most of the time, the Petrol Filling Station attendants will claim that they dont have smaller notes to give you your balance to cheat you further. 3) Aside all their falsehoods on the pumping machine ,they will tell you how much actually they will sell the fuel per litre. I was into a Petrol filling Station in Igboho today to buy Petrol, I was told it sold for N105.00 per litre,N2,100.00 was collected for 20litres.After dispensing 20litres according to their calibrations, the Naira value equivalent displayed on the screen was N1940.00. The transactions above is not in tandem with the Federal government proclamation. This is a prototype of what is operational and obtainable in Nigeria; I pity those in the far Northern Nigeria. Federal and State government task forces should be reawakened to continuously go round and monitor the Petrol Filling Stations across Nigeria
