Action for Children work in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The service strives to support children and young people to make new friends and enjoy a range of leisure opportunities, whilst also enabling parents and carers to have regular, planned breaks, thus reducing the possibility of breakdown of the family unit. The service aims to maximise the quality of experiences for service users by the provision of a range of new and fun opportunities, experiences and development of new skills all within the local community. This role will help provide a responsive, high quality and outcomes driven service to service users and families, based on an assessment of need, that is regularly reviewed in line with organisational timescales. You will have: Considerable experience of working with children and young people with a learning disability and their families. QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or a commitment to undertake this within a specified period. Register with The Care Council of Wales, or a commitment to undertake your induction and register within six months of starting in role. Cover shift leading responsibilities as required. Attend multi agency meetings as required to cover link worker. Attend monthly supervision and team meetings. Attend training as required to meet the needs of young people and the service. Undertake an Induction programme including use of ICT equipment. Ability to cover a range of shifts including night shifts and sleep-ins as part of a rota system. To cover shifts as agreed with line manager. Staff will need to be able to undertake manual handling tasks and attend training on reactive physical intervention and be physically able to carry out these tasks.
