John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. The song posted here says, Take my life, take my mind, take my soul, take my will. The point being is that ALL of us should belong to Jesus Christ. Why? Because apart from Him, we can do nothing. The Scriptures say that man is born dead. Dead in trespasses and sins. Not only unwilling to come to God, but UNABLE. We are born saturated in sin. It is our nature to not only be sinful but to BE sin. Its who we naturally are, because of Adam. We can do NOTHING good. The Bible says that even our good is like a filthy rag. Paul Washer once said that he imagines that the greatest sin is a violation of the greatest commandment. Jesus said that the GREATEST commandment is to love God with all your heart, mind and strength. So to violate that would be the greatest sin. Think about that. NEVER. Not for ONE SOLITARY SECOND, do we love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls. Not ONCE do we love Him as He ought to be loved. So every moment from our birth, we are committing the greatest of all sins. ALWAYS. EVERY SINGLE MOMENT. We ARE sin. So, the only possible good we could do is if Christ does it in us! THANK GOD that is what happens when a person is born again. When you receive the Spirit of God during your conversion, He comes and dwells in you. And He begins a work. A work of transforming your NATURE! Turning you from a past life where you were dead, to a life where He guides your heart. Ephesians says that we are His workmanship, HE is doing the work in us. The walk is not one of will power and effort. It is not one of acts. It is one of submission. As we draw nearer to Him (through the power of the Holy Spirit, for even that good work of drawing near is His!), He works in us to conform us to His image. And the result is TRUE good works pouring forth NATURALLY. So yes Lord! Take my life. Take my mind. Take my soul. Take my will.
