John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Meditation: When I returned home Sunday evening from my weekend at Blue Lake Methodist Camp, I noticed a large limb on my neighbor’s oak tree dangling in front of my mail box. There must have been some strong winds here while I was away as the limb was twisted and hanging by a small portion of itself. The leaves were alive and well Sunday and Monday. Tuesday when I went out to cut the limb away from the mailbox, the leaves had begun to shrivel and dry out. This is what happens to us when we neglect our relationship with our Lord. The first day or two, all seems normal, but as time passes and we continue to ignore our Lord, we begin to resemble the shriveled leaves. Our spirits become dry and brittle. Our connection with the branch, our Lord, becomes tenuous. Many say “Oh, but I pray every day!” That is wonderful, but it is merely the appetizer of the meal. Bible study brings the meat to the table of your life. Through Bible study, we learn about God’s character, what He wants and expects from His people. We learn how others have served Him and how some have failed. We become familiar with His wonderful promises for us. The most5 productive minutes are your day can be those spent with the Lord in Bible study and prayer. Make it a habit. Be blessed! Joyfully His, Judy K
