John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be - TopicsExpress

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Freedom, in the earthly sense, is just an illusion. Yes, we have the freedom to choose which brand of tooth paste that we buy, but is that real freedom? Perhaps freedom is found in the form of government that we choose, but as I look around at what our government has evolved into, is that really freedom? There is a vast difference between having choices and being free. The scriptures tell us For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23 - A man made decide which color of shirt to put on, but he will be putting it on a body that is by nature (or the result of being Adams decedent) in the possession of a fallen and sinful nature. Men may have a problem with that statement, but the scriptures clearly speak saying For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. -1 Corinthians 15:22 Some believe that man is born with a clean slate and then as they live in this world they change, or modify their character because of the choices that they make. The problem with that scenario is that they have discounted what God has spoken about the nature of men. God gave the Law to the people through Moses and that Law was not give to save men, but actually, it was given for the exact opposite reason, to reveal to men the way things really are! The Law is a schoolmaster that teaches one main lesson and that lesson is that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God - the Law makes sin, exceedingly sinful! - If you will take the law seriously, you will find that keeping it will require a new type of nature! Man is not born free! - All people of the earth are born in a condition that requires some divine attention to overcome. Men have a bent toward not doing what God demands that they do! - of course - God has sufficiently addressed all of these issues in the death of His Son, Christ Jesus. Jesus shows up on the scene speaking things so wonderful and marvelous that men can barely contain them If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. - Your whole person, from your new nature to every manifested work of that new man will operate in the realm of freedom! Freedom from sin! - you can now say no to sin and be effective. Freedom from the domination of the old sinful nature. Freedom from the oppressor of your soul. Freedom to serve God with your whole heart, mind and strength. Freedom to think right and purpose and reflect on eternal things. Freedom to do what seems good unto you and God be pleased! Freedom even if your body is locked in prison! Freedom even if you have to work two jobs to pay the bills. Freedom is only realized as we are found in Christ- walking in the Spirit and submitting to the leading of the master! For now, our reign is limited, as we abide in Christ we will make progress towards that day when we shall have a wider and more perfect reign, but for now your primary reign is over your own body. Every believer has the ability to rule in the midst of his enemies and your primary enemy lives inside you, it is your old nature, remember he is the one that wouldnt keep the law, he is the one that cries out from the cross to be let down, he is just as powerful as the day he was crucified with Christ but do not be discouraged, he cannot do what he would from a cross! The pains of death haunt him and he knows that his time is short, but praise God, you have been set free from his defiling reign over you and you have been born again - Christ has made you free
