John Creamy McDonald passed away a couple days ago. Im so blessed to have had him as one of my best friends for the better part of four decades. At one point you couldnt go anywhere without seeing me with him or Bubby, Baldo, Squeak Pig, Freddy, Petro,etc....the list goes on.......We had such a close core group of friends that even time could not erode. Even when John moved to Florida from Connecticut over three decades ago i would go visit him once a year until i moved to California. Even then i would talk to him on the phone every couple of months, even more regularly the last past year. He knew he was living on borrowed time since his transplant some thirty odd years ago and lived life to the fullest every minute of every day. He settled down somewhat and got married, had a couple children that were his pride and joy, and part of the legacy he knew he would leave behind. He was the first person on the east coast and one of the first few in the nation to receive a half-a-heart transplant. Everyone who had the pleasure to meet and know him will tell you that he was indeed a unique individual and would have some story to relay to you about his exploits. I myself have dozens and dozens of wild, crazy, humorous stories of him. He loved his family, he loved his friends, and most importantly he loved life. He showed it every day even though he was in severe pain for many years with back problems. Yet, even that didnt stop him from being him. He kicked the shit out of life like so many in his position were too afraid to. We can all learn a lesson on how to live life from John. He was dealt a pair of deuces and somehow turned it into a full house. I am honored to have had you for a friend and will greatly miss our hour long monthly phone calls. Laugh, man we would laugh about our exploits. RIP my dear friend. Even though life took you away from me my memories of and with you will never die.........
