John had his chemo class today and found out what types of chemo he will be taking. We didnt expect to see his oncologist today but she pulled us into her office before his class. I dont even know how to type this out... bottom line is that this cancer will take his life. He has stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma in both lungs. Without treatment he will have anywhere from 6 to 9 months to live. With treatment he could live 2 to 3 years. We are going to fight and get as many years with him as possible. He has another MRI on Thursday to rule out a possible tumor on his liver and he has surgery for his port on Friday. So far, the chemo treatments he will be on are Avastin, Alimta and Carboplatin. There is still one part of his molecular study that hasnt come back yet. When that comes back, based on the result, the chemo might change a little. We were given so much information and prescriptions today, were still trying to process everything. I just wanted to say, please keep praying and sending positive thoughts. We need and will continue to need them, along with any help people are willing to give.
