Join us at the AAA Presidential Invited Session on Open Access Publishing in Washington! Please share! Opening Access, Being Publisher—A Discussion about Anthropology, Epistemic Ethics, and Post-Profit Publishing Friday, December 5, 2014: 9:00–10:45 AM, Delaware Suite A (Marriott Wardman Park) A roundtable conversation between Giovanni da Col, Jessica Cattelino, Kim Fortun, Francis B. Nyamnjoh, Charlie Piot, Alberto Corsin Jimenez, Michael Fortun, and George Marcus. Open access publishing has the potential to transform the landscape of anthropological scholarship; indeed many would argue it already has. Open access is no longer a hypothetical possibility or an abstract potential, but a process with which our discipline is currently and actively experimenting in various ways (e.g. Hau and Cultural Anthropology). Moving from the pragmatic operations of “going open” to the philosophical dimensions of anthropological knowledge in digital motion, we take open access as an ethnographic object, turning it over and around to surface its possibilities and its impasses. culanth.org/fieldsights/623-sca-events-at-the-2014-aaa-meeting-in-washington-dc
