Join us to learn about One-Pagers and Awareness Training for Back-to-School Advocating Opportunities! Guest speaker, Jen Randle- Youth Programs Coordinator from the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council and the members of the DSACO Education Outreach Committee will host training for parents to learn how to spread awareness, understanding and acceptance in their child’s school. One aspect that will be covered will be the very important tool for school kids, The One-Pager. The One-Pager is a tool to show what is important to and important for your child when entering a new classroom. The One-Pager will express to the teacher all the wonderful things about your child, as well as how best to support the child to enable a productive learning environment. This tool will assist the teacher and the student to make a smooth transition into a new classroom. The training will also cover how to facilitate an awareness presentation at your child’s school. Resources, videos, pamphlets, promo items, certificates, and coloring sheets will be shared. The presenters will demonstrate awareness lessons that have been taught to various age groups from pre-k through high school. Easy to understand lesson plans will be provided as well as notes on what to remember to cover when discussing Down syndrome and other disabilities.
