Jonathan Storms Kaduna Today For PDP Rally Ahead of the 2015 general elections and President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to Kaduna today for the North-West rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Kaduna State chapter of the party yesterday inaugurated stakeholders that will assist the party to achieve victory in 2015. Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero who inaugurated the stakeholders also tasked them on unity of purpose, togetherness and tolerance of one another in order to strengthen the party. He urged the stakeholders to forgive one another including himself, while assuring that he has forgiven whoever offended him in any way, and appealed to those who defected from the party to return back. “I will continue to be honest, fair and just in running the affairs of the state, let us embrace each other and sustain the greatness of the party,” he added. Meanwhile, the party has made huge gains with the defection of some political heavy weights back to its fold. According to a stalwart of the party and former National Assembly member, Hon Mohammed Saleh Annur, there are several top politicians who had earlier left the PDP that have indicated readiness to return to the party. He said, “I want to assure you that there are many top members of our great party that left few months ago, but because they are now satisfied with the leadership of the party, they are ready to come back and they have told some of us that they are returning home to PDP.” Annur said many of those that left the party recently did so as a result of some internal problems saying “now that we have a new leadership at the national level, the party is becoming stronger and many of our members both those that decamped and those that wanted to follow them move out have now realised that PDP is the only party that guarantees them democracy and freedom.” He said the Kaduna State chapter of the PDP was stronger even in the face of crisis due to the leadership quality of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero. He said, “The governor has succeeded in keeping the party as one family because he listens to all shades of opinions and he is always fair to all in carrying out decisions. That is why the PDP in Kaduna has remained strong and solid.” Meanwhile preparations to receive President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other party leaders in Kaduna is in top gear as thousands of members of the party from other parts of the zone are already in Kaduna. Our correspondent who went round Kaduna metropolis over the weekend observed that most hotels in Kaduna were fully booked while commercial activities in the city is at its peak as a result of influx of supporters of the PDP for the North-West rally. President Jonathan is expected to storm the rally with other top national leaders of the party and many state governors as part of efforts to ensure cohesion within the party in preparation for the 2015 general elections.
