***Meet & Greet Monday*** We wanted to introduce to you today a lovely lady who is visiting the Centre spreading a little style in Hinkler, the wonderful Alison Triffett - Style Counsel, who is doing personal stylist consultations as part of our 13 Days of Fashion & Glamour Festival. We wanted to get to know her a little better so asked her a few questions.... What do you do, what’s your job? I’m a Personal Stylist. I help people look and feel better from the inside out. Do you have a hidden talent? I have many! I make a mean chicken pho, and I am a bit of geek (computer nerd). Do you have brothers and/or sisters? One older sister, but also many “sistas from anudder mudda” who aren’t blood related, but sisters in soul. Who are your favourite people in your life? My hubby, two kids (daughter 22, son 24); my friends; my beloved Boof (dog); my Vet, Kirsty; My doctors/nurses (they’re keeping me alive!) Do you have any pets? What kind? The love of my life…my dog Boof. He’s a 15yo, diabetic, blind, deaf black toy poodle with only one-eye and two teeth! Also answers to the name of “Lucky”…Lucky to be alive! I lost my 15yo Diabetic Burmese cat, Milly last year. She got cancer. She was a very special cat, who was responsible for me finding a breast lump when she was a kitten (because of where she used to sleep on me). I guess you can tell I’m pretty obsessed with my pets. I LOVE animals... What’s the #1 most played song in your car/iPod? Right now, it’s “A Sky Full Of Stars (all of Coldplay’s latest album, really); “We Are Done” (The Madden Bros); All About The Base (Meghan Trainor); Budapest (George Ezra)... What is one of your favourite quotes? I have many…sorry! My own personal mantra is “The best way to make yourself feel good is to help someone else feel even better”....And Coco Chanel’s ”Fashion fades - Style is eternal” “Dear whatever doesn’t kill me…I’m strong enough now. Thanks” “The secret to talking is listening” “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” Maya Anelou (1928 - 2014) What’s your favourite indoor/outdoor activity? Indoors: Cooking. Drinking wine - Outdoors: Eating. Drinking wine What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Carrying Grocery bags from the car to the kitchen. Unpacking them. (I am quite weak…it kills my hands/arms) Do you like to cook? Love it - especially trying out/making up new recipes. What’s your favourite type of food? Aburi Salmon Sushi (from the Sushi Train); Vietnamese - chicken pho. When was the last time you had an amazing meal? Any time I get to go to the Sushi Train for more Aburi Salmon! Who has the most influence in your life? Those who face challenges yet still remain focused on helping others. My dad (RIP) was a very strong influence. He spent his entire life helping people - never asked for anything in return. He was the kindest, gentlest man in the world. I miss him terribly and his influence will live on forever. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to? Oooh…tough one…Maybe Grace (because it’s a character strength I admire?) I like the name Lily, and I also think “Pip” is cute/fun to say! If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Robin Williams, Nelson Mandela or the Dalai Lama. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Haven’t had a holiday since 2008, so probably take a long trip - New York, Europe - and bring all my friends with me! If you were reincarnated as an animal what would it be? A dog. But only one that gets to live with me, because I treat my animals like humans and will do anything to keep them happy, healthy, alive! Lastly, Alison if you were to give us one piece of fashion advice, what would it be? Less is more. Take one thing off as you walk out the door. Oh, and “lighten up!” - make black the exception, not the rule. Light neutrals take years off and freshen everyone’s complexions. Thanks Alison, youre an amazing lady!
