At the age of five years was offered by his mother to Valldeflors Virgin, patroness of their city. Under the influence of the priest Valentine Lledós cultivated his religious vocation; worked to pay for studies conducted in the Pious School of Barbastro and church in the diocesan seminaries of Lleida and Seo de Urgel , and April 9 of 1859 was ordained priest . He served in the Diocese of Urgel , holding several church offices. He founded two religious congregations, the Congregation of Sons of the Holy Family and the Congregation of Missionary Daughters of the Holy Family of Nazareth to carry out pastoral work of promoting the cult of the Holy Family and to promote Christian education of children and youth. With this purpose in mind, in 1875, after witnessing two years before the proclamation of the I Spanish Republic in Barcelona and return to his hometown after being persecuted and forced to close one of the first infant schools (Sant Josep), returned with the ambitious task of founding schools in and around Barcelona, extending a network of schools for various towns in Catalonia and the rest of Spain. Currently, male congregation also called Manyanetianos have orphanages, schools and colleges in Spain, Italy, USA, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela. There are several schools of the Congregation of the Sons of the Holy Family that bear his name, such as Reus, Barcelonas, that of Medellín and the Alcobendas . Other schools in the Congregation that bear his name are not the Jesus, Mary and Joseph ( 1877 ) in Barcelona ; San Ramon school ( 1889 ) in Villafranca del Penedes ; San Miguel ( 1894 ) in Molins de Rey ; Santa María ( 1896 ) in Blanes , Teenage Jesus (1931) in Tres Arroyos (Argentina) and the San Luis Bosch ( 1925 ) of Begas . Some of them were founded personally by José Manyanet. The female congregation has homes in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid and the Canary Islands), Cameroon, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and Paraguay, and general house in Rome. He founded the magazine Sagrada Familia. He wrote several books to spread devotion to the Holy Family, and the formation of religious, families and children. For the same purpose inspired the erection of the Temple of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Faith Father Manyanet stands out not only in his vocation as a priest and educator, he also had a deep love for Christ, the Virgin Mary and the Holy Eucharist. He died in 1901 in Barcelona at 68 years old, suffering from a severe and painful illness. It was declared Blessed by Pope John Paul II on November 25 of 1984 , and canonized on May 16 of 2004 . 1 The date of his feast day is December 16 .
