Joshua 24:14 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” This a bold declaration from the book of Joshua that should be the resounding cry of every believer. Put away the things that will take us farther from Him. Turn from the broad path of destruction that leads us to ruin. Cease to bow to all idols that come before the Lord our God. Going forward with our focus on Christ and Him alone, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, telling the world of the redemption that is only found in Him. No one else other than Christ Jesus will bring us the peace and blessed assurance we so desperately need. No, there are no other gods to follow except for the Lord Himself. Brothers and sisters, I encourage you to boldly proclaim that you and your house will serve the Lord. There is no better place for us to be than following in the footsteps of Jesus as He leads us through the narrow gate and on the difficult path that leads to life.
