But the cultural cache: ancient egypt....as interpreted by Bale and other Euros ( for damn near a century now lol if were talking mass media ) is the prize. Yea. If we dont make our own stuff...then... 20 hrs · Like · 3 Darryl Cox The archeological evidence does not support the Book of Exodus[3] and most archaeologists have abandoned the investigation of Moses and the Exodus as a fruitless pursuit.[4] While significant portions of the story told in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy were never intended to be historiographic, the overall intent was historical according to the understanding of the ancient writers: to demonstrate Gods actions in history, to recall Israels bondage and salvation, and to demonstrate the fulfillment of Israels covenant.[5] 20 hrs · Like Olu Damba Oyero True ^^ still a powerful story, deeply embedded in the western psyche. Facts dont win against these things....not everyday at least. 20 hrs · Edited · Like · 1 Yvette Carnell deeply embedded in the western psyche probably THE most powerful story, aside from Jesus dying on the cross. Thats why theyre all white. 20 hrs · Like · 3 Olu Damba Oyero Indeed. Symbols, symbols. We know what it did to us in 08. Ahem. 20 hrs · Like · 1 Yvette Carnell All symbols of power and authority MUST be white. They cant deviate from that and maintain a white supremacist structure. 20 hrs · Like · 8 Darryl Cox Yes, but what exactly is the legacy we as descendants of Africans, and many of us are certainly not related in any way with these ancient Egyptians, supposed to take away from a story that no matter how deeply it has become embedded in Western consciousness is more fable and myth than fact? I have to think about this some more because I find all of it puzzling. 20 hrs · Like · 1 Olu Damba Oyero Bale has played Jesus too lol ! Dude just hit the motherload again with this role.. Jesus & Moses. Those are the bookends right there in the Great West. ( Mohammed, Buddha, who are those ? ) 20 hrs · Edited · Like Yvette Carnell Olu Damba Oyero 2008 is the year we will not discuss! 2007 either! Its off the table! LOL 20 hrs · Like · 1 Gary Hardwick Rather than support an independent black cinema, wed rather fight white filmmakers to bend them to our will. 20 hrs · Like · 8 Salaam Kevin Smith AliSpirit Salaam Kevin Smiths photo. 20 hrs · Like Yvette Carnell I dont assert any connection with Egypt. I assert that either a thing is true or false. If this Exodus event really did happen, if its a historical truth, as believers say, then the people who partook in aforementioned Exodus should resemble the historical players. Bible folk want us to believe that the Bible is true until its time to make a movie, then screenwriters call it mythical and fill it with white men. LOL This, for me, is just another wormhole into the psyche of these folks. 20 hrs · Like · 6 Olu Damba Oyero ^^ Poison. And the state of Israel has been milking this thing for ages now.... 20 hrs · Edited · Like · 1 Olu Damba Oyero The human heart thrives on stuff like this. If handled with care & contextualized for your own day--it can feed the soul. Thinking of how MLK immortalized a couple of lines from this narrative.... 20 hrs · Like Yvette Carnell These people understand the power of myth, as Ive grown to understand it from Joseph Campbell. They know the weight of these depictions.. 20 hrs · Like · 2 Darryl Cox I agree in part, Yvette, but there is historical truth and then there is the truth as presented by Hollywood filmmaking. Im not sure if the collective psyche of African Americans, especially those who define themselves as Christians, could take a movie in which blacks are enslaving, torturing and killing Hebrews. A lot of metaphors and Negro spirituals would have to be put on the shelf. Is this why the alleged Black-Jewish alliance was destined to fail? LOL! 20 hrs · Edited · Like · 1 Olu Damba Oyero I know NO antebellum era slave became prime minister of the confederacy or got adopted to be raised by any white house residents during that period.....lol. So maybe ancient Egyptians were not so bad ( irony alert on lol ) 20 hrs · Edited · Like John Rose Theyre acting like children I dont like it either but i wud never expect them to make an all black cast nor does it give the film any credibility but Ill still watch it on bootleg 20 hrs · Edited · Like Gary Hardwick Hollywood does not sell entertainment, it sells white male supremacy and white female beauty. 20 hrs · Like · 4 Yvette Carnell i wud never expect them to make an all black .. you mean you would never expect them to be accurate or add even one black leading cast member. 20 hrs · Like · 1 Yvette Carnell Theres no reason to watch Exodus. AT all. Bootleg or not. Give that $3 to some kickstarter of a black filmmaker trying to make a movie. 20 hrs · Like · 4 Silas Cardwell I laughed. 20 hrs · Like · 2 Darryl Cox Im certain the Church of God and Saints of Christ Church whose members believe they are Black Israelites would have some anxiety if Black folk were shown to have enslaved the children of Israel. There are more than enough theatrical possibilities contained in this situation to keep African American screenwriters busy. en.wikipedia.org/.../Church_of_God_and_Saints_of... 19 hrs · Edited · Like · 1 Olu Damba Oyero Makes you wonder when even PBS uses lines like: learn about the African Kushites who conquered the ancient Egyptians ... those folks lived not that far from each other ...lol but only one of them was African. Ok. 19 hrs · Edited · Like · 1 Darryl Cox The satirical possibilities are broad.
