Jul. 24, 2014 | 02:12 PM Siniora to U.N. chief: World responsible for Gaza tragedy The Daily Star BEIRUT: Future bloc head MP Fouad Siniora Thursday condemned the international community for its leniency with Israel, saying such behavior would only lead to further rounds of violence, extremism and instability. “We demand an immediate cease-fire and the international community is held responsible for Israels stubbornness,” Siniora said in a letter to U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon on behalf of his allies in the March 14 coalition. “The international community is partially responsible for the continuation and the escalation of the tragedy in Gaza as a result of its failure to put limits on Israel.” More than 700 people have been killed in a little over two weeks since Israel launched its offensive on Gaza, as Hamas fighters fire rockets that have reached Tel Aviv on several occasions.
