July 19, 2014: Touring Cricketing Party The Indian Express reporter from the Blighty,’Sandeep has wailed about the jumbo size of the Indian cricketers’ touring party in England.Accompanying the 18 member Indian cricket team are a large number of non-cricketing,non-professional hands. Sandeep says that at the Nottingham Hotel where the Indian team stayed during its first Test Match 21 rooms were occupied by the non-professional non-team members of the team group. Here in lies the inherent perception of Sandeep.Sandeep alleges that these included Murali Vijay’s wife Nikita, and son Navin,Pujara’s wife,Gautam Gambhir’s wife and their three month old daughter,and,old your horses, Virat kohli’s Girl Friend,actress Anushka Sharma. I have different take on this matter altogether. You see Murli Vijay has just staged a come back into the opening slot largely due to his wife and son! Gautam Gambhvir knew it in advance that ,given his solid opinion on greatness of a team entirely on the contributions of the cricket and not due to the captain, he was only a contingency member of the touring party who was expected to watch any skirmishes of Indian players in the playing XI. He therefore tagged along his wife and daughter. Virat Kohli’s girl friend,Anushka went even to the New Zealand without the mandatory sanction from the BCCI.Therefore, this time Virat had the nod. An additional reason for Virat and Anushka was to show to the world what they had not seen,as their shampoo ad said ! I am sure that uninformed newsmen like Sandeep would now take their assignments a tad more seriously where non-professionals like me have to correct them!
