July Vacation II & III, 4th of July & Canada Day, & NKP 765 Like the previous vacation this one would be my 2 weeker. It started in the last week of June would ended on Canada Day. Before going off on these vacations I went up to Owosso area for Train Expo 2014. It was a smaller version of Trainfestival 2009, but without the Southern Pacific 4449 Daylight streamline steam locomotive. This year’s model railroading experience had my folks and I going to the 2014 TCA Convention in Philadelphia, PA/Southern New Jersey. The biggest highlight wasn’t really train related at all but experiencing Historical America. I got to see both the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The birthplace of American Government. I must say, it was strange seeing the REAL Independence Hall. I’ve seen this building all my life in my own hometown of Deaborn, Michigan. The interior was quite different from Henry Ford Museum’s main entry way which is a scale replica. On the way back home we stop off in Pennsylvania’s Amish Country in Strasburg, PA. Went to see all of the train related places: RR Museum Of PA, Strasburg RR, Choo Choo Barn, & The Red Caboose Hotel. Last place we stop at before coming home was over by Cleveland, Ohio. Saw my sister’s family near there along the Toll Road. My nice was playing a softball tournament there. Back home from these 2 vacations I saw steam locomotive Nickel Plate Road 765 pull some weekend trips for Norfolk Southern. The Mercury was easy to chase, The Detroit Arrow was so so.
