June 20 is not for Mockery of our Martyrs by the PFDJ When - TopicsExpress

June 20 is not for Mockery of our Martyrs by the PFDJ When thousands of ELF and EPLF freedom fighters lost their lives during the 30 year struggle for independence they did so dying for a cause in which they deeply believed in. At the heart of the cause was not the aim to achieve sovereignty as an independent authority over a geographic area, but the right to self-determination, equality, and freedom. When thousand more Eritreans lost their precious lives in the border war with Ethiopia exactly seven years after independence, we thought that by protecting our country’s sovereignty we would protect the very values our freedom fighters fought for. Under the rule of Isayas Afewerki and the PFDJ however, Eritrea has turned into a giant prison and a country where fear, control, torture, and intense poverty have long suffocated past hopes and aspirations. Our martyrs did not die for their own interests, but instead gave their precious lives for the liberty and dignity of every Eritrean on this globe. Isayas Afewerki and the PFDJ have not only betrayed our martyrs, but an entire nation, and above all are now continuing to this day to use June 20 for fake patriotic propaganda, while thousands of Eritreans continue to suffer and die in their hands each single day making a mockery of the real cause. As such the continuous support by many Eritrean towards Isayas Afewerki and the PFDJ is a further insult to the sacrifices of our martyrs, and the indifference and complete silence of many more does not pave the way for the noble cause so many died for. To reclaim and fulfill the promise of our martyrs and honor their sacrifice can only be achieved by continuing to uphold the torch of freedom and justice through clear determination until Eritrea indeed is the land, in which every Eritrean lives in dignity and equality with a chance to realize individual dreams. This week, we remember our martyrs who died during the struggle for independence, during protests and acts of defiance inside Eritrea, during the border war of 1998, and in less known battles in Somalia, Djibouti, Yemen, and the Sudan. And we remember all those who suffer and fell victim of imprisonment and torture. Today we renew our promise to our martyrs that we honor their legacy and that we will continue to fight PFDJ and work towards a new Eritrea in which the right to self-determination, equality, justice, freedom, and prosperity will be manifested. Eternal glory to our martyrs! Please join us for 1 mins silence - where ever you are in the world - at 12 PM California time, which is 9 PM Berlin time. youtube/watch?v=hM-soVKkPNQ&feature=youtu.be
