June 25, 2013 Dear Rita, Last week, in an unprecedented development in the history of congressional action on Farm Bills, the full House rejected the bill advanced to the floor by House leadership. This is good news for animal advocates since this Farm Bill contained the overly broad and dangerous King Amendment that could have repealed state laws on farm animal confinement, horse slaughter, puppy mills, and shark finning.
