June 29 Forward Focus Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13,14, NASB As a minister, I have had the opportunity to be with many people in the last moments before they died. During those times, the conversation was never trite and silly, but deep, meaningful and related to the life to come. As an evangelist, I spend my life endeavoring to help people focus on eternity. Everywhere I go, the majority of mankind is focused on this temporal, material world. If only more ministers warned of the consequences and the judgment to come. If only the world could see how fleeting this life really is. Robert Hall was a mighty man of God, with his eyes fixed on eternity. His warning is so relevant today. After death is the judgment. What is to shield you in judgment from the stroke of vengeance? Have you been hearing the calls of the gospel without regarding them? Have you not applied the truth to yourselves? Oh, remove yourself now from the snares of the world. Shut your eyes on the scenes of time, on which they must soon be closed forever. Converse with the world to come, endeavor to yield to the power of it. Look at the things which are not seen. Walk, as it were, upon the borders of the ocean of eternity and listen to the sound of its waters till you are deaf to every sound besides. Oh friend, do not take his warning lightly. Feel the urgency. Keep a forward focus. Live eternity-conscious. Joshua 1; Psalms 120-122 Isaiah 61; Matthew 9
