Junior Zoo Staff Required Job Description Peel Zoo requires the services of casual Junior Customer Service Staff for upcoming school and public holidays. Energetic and passionate individuals, aged 15 – 18, are encouraged to apply for this position. The Zoo is a fast paced environment, so applicants must be quick on their feet. That means physically fit, agile, and it helps to be a little fearless. An outgoing personality, with the ability, and desire, to communicate with all ages, as well as visitors from around the world, will be highly regarded. Above all else, we are looking for individuals with an exceptional and mature work ethic. For the health and safety of animals and humans alike, the Zoo is not an environment where near enough is good enough. You must pay attention to detail. Duties Duties include, but are not limited to: • Providing a welcoming and entertaining environment for visitors of all ages and cultures; • Meeting and greeting visitors, and ensuring they have a great day at the Zoo; • Providing information to, and responding to questions from, visitors regarding the Zoo and our animals; • Assisting Staff with animal photo opportunities; • Helping visitors interact with a variety of animals, such as: Snakes, Lizards, Parrots, Dingoes, Kangaroos… Duties may vary depending on the enthusiasm, aptitude, and maturity of the individual, and the needs of the Zoo. In time, and with the appropriate training, duties may include working with our Zoologists on animal presentations at the Zoo and with our mobile Zoo2U programme.
