Just a Thought: “Man, she’s HOT!” Or, “He’s HOT!” Not - TopicsExpress

Just a Thought: “Man, she’s HOT!” Or, “He’s HOT!” Not exactly the words you would expect to hear around the church…and that’s the problem! We don’t see and hear about many HOT Christians today. I’m talking about folks on fire for the Lord; not just in service, but in genuine love for the Lord. I mean people who so love and desire the Lord that they love and desire what He loves. Let’s be clear; long before your works fade in fervency, your heart drifts from a devoted love for the Lord Himself. When you begin to feel burn out, lack of joy, missing fulfillment; you’re just going along, it is usually a heart problem long before it is a physical or emotional one. While it is a sad truth, the truth is the church is in need of more folks like the psalmist who’s desire was expressed in (Ps 42:1) “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.” And we have an over abundance of church folks that better fit the description of the church folks at Laodicea in (Rev 3:15) “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!” This church found themselves just going along and in all reality, no one really seemed to recognize the state they were in because they were comfortable with what they were doing and how they were doing it. I can’t imagine the sting in their hearts and the shock on their faces when Jesus said to His church, “…because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Rev 3:16) You can almost hear them gasp “Well! I never…” But the truth is, they did and that was what they were doing and that is what is happening in the hearts of many Christians today and as the member’s go so goes the church. It is a sad day when the church is supposed to be reaching out to the lost, telling them of Jesus desire to have a personal relationship with them only to wake up and find Jesus standing o at our own door having to say to His own church: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” (Rev 3:20) I think Jesus would be really pleased to hear “Man, she’s HOT!” Or, “He’s HOT!” in the church more. We cannot change people; but we can change ourselves – so what is Jesus saying about you today “He/She is HOT or NOT? Perhaps a change of temperature is due in you.
