Just a quick heads-up on the next Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society meeting - Feb. 12, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library. The World War II era is full of examples of bravery and sacrifice on the battlefield and the homefront. However, one organization that hasnt received much recognition is the Womens Airforce Service Pilots - a group of approximately 1,800 female civilian pilots who volunteered from 1942 to 1944 to become the first women in history to fly for the U.S. Military. Speaker Ray Hoffman will shed light on this little known part of WWII history and the recently established National Womens Airforce Service Pilots World War II museum in Sweetwater, Texas. The historical society meeting is free and open to the public. Hope to see you there! In the meantime, here is a link with more information on the program. cuyahogafalls.patch/groups/events/p/feb-12-cuyahoga-falls-historical-society-program-features-wwii-womens-airforce-service-pilots-museum
