Just a warning: I read for entertainment purposes only (and prolifically). If you want to hear of some deep, meaningful metaphor in life in the form of the written word, never read my booklist! LOL Urban Fantasy, Paranormal (sometimes Paranormal Romance, if the author doesnt really seem to be just fluff), Horror and occasional Science Fiction take up most of my bookshelf. Plus my childhood collection of horse and other animal books. I just finished Dark Descendant by Jenna Black, which is the first book of her new Nikki Glass series. Urban Fantasy piece where there are descendants of the gods (Roman, Greek, Norse, etc.) among us, engaged in conflict among themselves. I first discovered Ms. Black with her Morgan Kingsley series, which was a very good debut for this author. My one complaint about Ms. Blacks female protagonists is that they tend to be extremely set in their ways/beliefs, even at very young ages. They sort of have to be bludgeoned into opening their minds as they go along their storyline. But overall, she writes very well. Currently in the middle of Sandman Slim, by Richard Kadrey. Again, Urban Fantasy, this one revolving around a vengeful hitman returned from Hell. Literally. First in a series. Enjoying it so far!
