Just an FYI. This is Finney, the OTTB rescue Ive posted about on here a few times already. He has taught us so much. The bumps on his face go all the way across to the side you cant see. His face was completely broken from a nylon (non-breakaway) halter. Vet said he was either tied in such a halter, or was left in a field with one on and it got caught on something. He said Finney is a very lucky horse because many that pull that hard break their necks instead. I have since removed all nylon, non-breakaway halters from our tack room, despite the fact that we never leave our horses unattended in a halter. *Please excuse the mud, we had a downpour just before I took this photo.
