Just another f*ck you in the long line of f*ck yous to military veterans and retirees from our grateful nation [sic]. A service member serves at the pleasure of the service and they do so willingly. They willingly go into harms way and endure hardships that few, if any, of their civilian counterparts do, or can even understand. Sure, being a police officer or fireman/woman can be, and often is dangerous, but they dont do it 24/7 for months on end. Tell that to a soldier, sailor or airman whether front line infantry or support personnel in a combat zone for their umpteenth tour where things are dangerous 24/7, and there are people actually trying to kill you 24/7. Tell that to a submarine sailor who put in 14-20 hour workdays, 7 days a week, while at sea in an incredibly tight and dangerous environment. Oh, and theyre at sea for periods generally about a month to two months long at a time and typically 7-9 months out of the year. Im sure its the same for sailors on other type ships. I cant speak for soldiers and airmen because I never lived in their environment (except in Vietnam). Think we dont deserve our retirement pensions? Try doing what we did just for a couple of months, then tell me your answer.
