Just another internet date story. This was about three weeks ago. The dude was from Bemidji so we met for coffee at a local restaurant. I got there first and chose a booth because theyre more comfortable. So the dude comes in and tries to sit in the booth but his belly is too big and he ends up being wedged in between the booth and the table. Hes sitting there trying to look cool but his face is turning color so I asked if he would rather sit at a table. Having accomplished that,we had a conversation. He had just moved here about three years ago after a divorce. He said he was semi-retired. He was a little younger than me so I thought he must be doing ok financially to be semi-retired. Well it turned out that his work history was pretty spotty and after he split all belongings in half from the divorce, he bought a double-wide that had been totally trashed and thats what he lived in. Of course he was fixing it up on his semi-retired income although he thought he might start looking for a job next month. Then he told me all his health problems which was pretty dazzling. I decided to have something to eat because I had missed lunch at work due to it being a crazy day. So I ordered a sandwich and since hes diabetic, he ordered six deep-fried mushrooms. Probably the only thing he could eat after being squished. When it was time to leave he apparently was broke so I paid for the lunch. He must have been a little embarrassed because he got in his car and drove out of there like he had a whole herd of demons on his tail. Needless to say, we have not communicated or seen each other since.
