Just as the filter fixed on the water tap absorbs the im- purities in the water, so we should absorb the impurities in us with the filter of meditation. In the olden days, the jungles were outside. Now with much of the jungle cleared away, it has sprung up within everyone. In olden times there were wild beasts outside. Now those beasts are also within. It is the dirt within the mind, the jungle and wild beasts of the mind, that should be removed.
