Just back from the remake of Carrie, which is an almost shot by shot remake of the Brian de Palma version with the only major deviation being that whereas before she was a victim, now she is quite specifically the monster who murders her high school classmates. Nice going, Hollywood. Review will be up soon, and it will not be kind. Were also almost finished American Horror Story: Asylum. While we liked the first season until the catastrophically bad final episode, this season started very strong but since the midpoint has become more ridiculous with every week, characters vanishing without investigation, cycles of capture and escape and recapture, the police failing to follow up on the obvious abuses of power and violent deaths at Briarcliffe. Again, the review will not be kind, which is a shame as the cast and the production are flawlessly excellent, but the writing is papering over cracks that are rapidly becoming too wide to conceal.
