Just got back from an Elasticsearch event, where I got to talk with the Shay Banon, the dude who created Elasticsearch. I always find it so amazing that these open source guys - super smart, single-handedly creating amazing products that millions of people around the world love, making their code open and free to anyone who wants it - can be so ridiculously humble and down-to-earth. Wow. The CTO from E-Trade gave such an enthusiastic talk on how they use Elasticsearch and how it has radically changed the way they do business because of how great it is. E-Trade! A company that processes 400,000+ transactions per second into Elasticsearch, then uses that data to analyze customer interactions and systems health in real-time.. And Shay interacts with him and the nerd in the back row with the same level of respect and humility. What an inspiration.
