Just got home from a terrible experience of a truly BAD presentation, on Ikan Hiasan (Decorative Fish) rearing program - supposedly a prog in the Ministry of Agriculture. Johan received a call saying they were fr MOA n that he was shortlisted n cld participate in any of 4 programs, Ostrich Farming, Swallow Birds Farming, Soft Shell Crab Farming and Decorative Fish Farming. He was told that although he was not interested in Ikan Hiasan (cos he said so) both husband n wife MUST attend to go through each phase, or else his name wld b struck off the list. We went, hoping to find out more abt the other programs. When Johan n I arrived at the hotel, we were introduced to the company, Conserve Media (M) Bhd. After a long wait, n a mixture of casual n way too personal questions (like how long have u been married? - whats that got to do with this!) the consultant we got started explaining how they r a Bhd company w rm1.5m paid up capital, and sir, u only hv a sdn bhd kan? We got up to her drawing her 4th balloon n several arrows to Skim Kepentingan n Johan stopped her n said I undertand. Can you just tell us how much per lot? She asked for her Supervisor, En. Khairuddin, to come explain further. Before he sat down, Johan went on the SSM website to check out this companys name and Arowana program n it was not listed. So when we asked about this, En. K got defensive n said We are not an interest scheme! We tried to explain Look, we r here, we came to listen, just tell us how much the investment will be. Just short cut. He said Kalau short cut tak boleh. We said thank u n left. I think they didnt know how to deal w prospects who understand business ideas n opportunities, and SSM programs, who want to know how much, then make a decision based on risk, value and returns. And guess what? This company gets paid RM250.00 by MOA for each prospect they speak to! They said they needed 2 hours of our time. And we were going to give them that. But luckily, our interaction ended abt an hour in. One hour Ill never get back. But hey, fellow Sabahans, just know that such a company exists. Oh, while we were waiting outside the room, a couple walked out n the lady said what a scam....hmmm should hv known better to go in w zero expectations. Still, my lesson is : Next time when such calls come, screen more diligently, ask more questions to save myself an hour or 2 ( so I can finish reading my current book in peace w a nice cup of tea at home!) >:
