Just had a Centrelink appointment, where I told them I missed the appointment yesterday due to having another appointment with PVS and was fixing car. I also said i have no idea why Im having this appointment because PVS is completely managing my job applications and participation duties. She said they both have a role to play... Her role to play consisted of: - Telling me i should have come in earlier in the day to the appointment if it conflicted with PVS as Centrelink is more flexible than PVS. I said Thats why i am here now... - Asking me whether i had applied to to 10 jobs which the report from PVS already stated i did (she didnt need to see the jobs apparently) - Asking what my address is even though its on the screen and hasnt changed in 3 years. - Confirming verbally Im doing a course which has already been verified. - Telling me to watch out for SMSs about my next appointment. What a waste of petrol and time... She clearly was making things up and trying to seem like its a necessary appointment. This is just like dehumanising actions in prisons and armies where they ask you to do pointless acts to simply show you the power they have over you and make you dislike not complying. Oh the social construct we are in.
