Just how short-sighted can we be in Scotland After listening to the Radio Scotland news programme this morning I really got the first inkling of what we in Scotland may be subjected too from Westminster if there is a No vote on September 18th and it really is not a situation any of us would want to experience if it is anywhere near to being correct. Scotland and in particular the Highland and Islands will be worse of because of its scattered population as the figures from the Barnett Formula takes such things into consideration. If you only concentrate on the population figures then we are in real trouble due to the legacy of the Highland Clearances and the many other Clearances we have had to endure in the Highlands and islands over time. Calculating funding on population will be a real disaster for the rural areas never mind anywhere else. I realise only too well the Scottish situation could be really difficult but cutting the funding of the Barnett Formula will really make the situation much worse and in an Oil and whisky taxation rich economy as well.
