Just in from a day trip to our Dallas doctor. Up at 4:30, home by 7:45. We might have set a new record. I started this quirky tradition of taking a picture of sweet girl in the back seat after every appointment to send my mom and brother as an update. At first, when we began this journey 3 1/2 years ago, she would sleep all the way there and all the way home. And then one visit, a few months into our wellness journey, our doctor sighed at our visit and said YES! She is thriving! I was so grateful he had not made it crystal clear that she wasnt :). Today was a day, I was once again struck with incredible, overwhelming gratitude. For the dream of Mk and working hard way before Ri was born or became so horribly ill. Working hard enough so that I knew Pamela Waldrop Shaw and Laurie Cole which is how God brought us to our doctor. God knew way before we needed him that we would. Grateful for the privilege to get to drive her there, 250 miles each way, to get the help we needed, at first every 7-10 days. Then every 2-3 weeks and now every month. Grateful that even with all the damage, we werent too late. Grateful for a doctor who knows who the great physician is. Grateful that even though we went a year struggling for the diagnosis, we had amazing care here and an awesome pediatric team willing to keep putting the puzzle together until they had THE answer. Not just AN answer. And grateful for all of your prayers on our behalf. All of you... My family and my friends I call family. And today, grateful through tears, that instead of having to sleep all the way, she sat up all the way home...because she could. #gratefulmama
