Just learned of the passing of Arlene Martel, who was a dear member of the Industry Roundtable I run, and a huge inspiration to me. If you dont know the name, she played Spocks fiancee in Star Trek, the chilling nurse in the Twilight Zone episode 22 (and also in TZs What You Need) and Robert Culps female companion in Harlan Ellisons unforgettable Outer Limits episode, Demon With a Glass Hand. She was one of a kind, so sad to hear the news. I remember her showing me a strip from a photo booth of her clowning around with Star Trek writer Theodore Sturgeon, around the time he wrote Amok Time, which Arlene starred in. Ted was one of my mentors when I was a teenager, and Arlene became a friend in recent years, long after I grew up so inspired by her work in Star Trek, Outer Limits and Twilight Zone.
