Just like the theater shooting in my mothers home town of Aurora, - TopicsExpress

Just like the theater shooting in my mothers home town of Aurora, CO; I hear people in Columbia, MD on the radio and TV talking about how they darted for the doors when they started hearing gunshots. I have to be honest, I dont relate. My instinct would be to take cover and assess the situation tactically. You dont know how many or where shots are from. How does one know that there wont be someone picking people off trying to run away!? I think, train, and prepare mentally for those situations in case they were to ever arise, God forbid. Someone with a firearm could immediately gain cover/concealment, draw down on the threat, assess what is behind the threat and assess line of sight. If you have a safe shot, TAKE IT! Step out and defend innocent people from these psycho gunmen when you have the freakin opportunity. Not everyone takes responsibility for their own safety. Those are the ones who run. Not me. Maybe its combat medic training. Maybe its my way of helping the less capable. I dont know but I just dont relate to people who step over people bleeding out on the floor while they run for the exit. Cowards. Stop, neutralize the threat, triage the injured, and administer life saving intervention until the scene is secured and medics arrive. Its not that complicated.
